Jesus was Angry
What makes you angry?
Some people seem to relish being angry and spend the majority of their time angry about something. Usually something they perceive to have been done to them (or denied them).
Others fear anger, I suppose fearing being out of control, and so go to great lengths to squelch or hide their anger.
In any case, anger generally is thought is as a bad thing. Certainly it often can be. How many hurtful and life altering things have been said or done in a moment of anger that can never be taken back? Surely, we have a moral obligation as free adult people to learn to manage and control our anger.
What are we to think when the Scripture tells us that Jesus was angry? (Read John 2:13-22)
Clearly, there is a ti0me and place for anger. And there are ways of expressing it that bring a good, desirable result. Jesus knew this and practiced it.
How do we know when our anger is good? How are we to know how and when to express that anger?
Jesus getting angry and throwing the merchants and money changers out of the Temple can teach us some things about healthy anger management.
How would your life be better if you learned to manage your anger better? What kinds of situations bring about frightening anger in you?
