Expectations
Palm Sunday celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The people threw palms and sang songs as Jesus traveled into the city. It must have been quite a sight!
The Celebration was grand because the people expected this to be the beginning of Jesus’ takeover of Jerusalem. In popular thinking, there was a great expectation that a new King, a King like David, would come and rid Israel of the Romans. Many thought Jesus was it!
But as we know, Jesus’ kingship is not like the kingships of this world. What were the people expecting, and how do we carry on those expectations today?
Given what we now know of Jesus’ Kingship, what should our expectations be? And how can we live them out this Easter season?
More on Sunday!
